I’ve always been a maker of things. From the time I was 3 my mom had me painting found rocks and pine birdhouses on our screened porch in the summer time. I grew up with a mom who could make anything and did! She was also a lover of antiques so we traveled New England finding treasures everywhere we went, she loving to find a bargain and me remembering to “Look but don’t touch”.

I guess it was pretty natural for me to gravitate to the arts, earning my degree at Savannah College of Art and Design. I took classes from a lot of majors quickly expanding my fabrication skills and learning how to make even more things. After college I was the production manager and artisan at a glass and metal studio where we made beautiful cabinetry hardware from recycled material.

After 5 years out West it was time to come home to the East Coast. We relocated to Brooklyn and I began working as a photo stylist, crafter, event designer and visual merchandiser. Basically anything that allowed me to make beautiful visuals. In 2014 I worked in Maine for 3 months styling for LL Bean and I started finding wonderful items at the antiques stores in the area. I knew I couldn’t take them all home to my small apartment in Brooklyn, but I certainly couldn’t leave them behind! They had to be mine. It was then I realized I could bring unique finds to others, so I started FoundbyaPropStylist on Etsy and have been selling vintage ever since. I love Scandinavian design and mid century modern, but I also have a strong affinity for true antiques.

Over time I have been incorporating upcycled and repurposed items into my store, because I love coming up with really functional ways to display finds and I alway need another spot for my plants! With limited counter space in my home in Brooklyn I had to find ways to show off more of my finds at once… The painted silver plate in my store is an idea my mom used to produce and sell in her own antique booth. Our color palettes are different, but I feel like I am in some way carrying on a family tradition, and it’s a reminder we are kindred spirits even in her absence.

As I hinted at above, life took another change of course recently and my husband and I moved up to the Catskill Mountains. We bought an 1850's farmhouse that needs lots of love.
